Now in the beginning of the New Year the fast lane of life awaits. What is our goal in life ? The Icelandic way is to have bigger buildings which is followed with shorter tempers. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. The houses gets bigger and families get smaller. We have more conveniences, but less time. Everybody is getting lost in the seek for the perfect life. What is the definition for perfect ? Well for me it´s being your self and enjoy life, be your self and be true. Though it looks like I´m stuck in the fast line in the search for perfection, being a business law student which requires a certain lifestyle, I often stop and wonder around in search for butterflies. They nearly always take me to the past because when I think of it I´m surely an old soul. Almost everything I like is old. I like old music, Floyd, Zeppelin, Doors to name a few. I like old cars, American muscle cars like Mustangs, Chevy Chevelle, Plymouth Barracuda, old British cars like Jaguar E-Type, Aston Martin. All values of life that I like are the old ones where emphasize was on family first not on the race to become Richie Rich. We have learned to make a decent living, but not a life. We´ve added years to life not life to years. We plan a hell of a lot, but accomplish less, We´ve learned to rush, but not to wait.
Well though New Years resolutions have been with us for century´s and people tend to break them, I intend to make a few and try to keep them. For one I´m going to look out for those who stand colse to me, they will not be around forever. I will try to slow down on the fast lane and try to add life to the year. And of course some of the typical resolutions, gym and that same old, same old. So for now smile on the world to get some smiles back.
The Proverb of the day is : Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
